Groningen residence of the district commissioner

restoration and extension of the district commissioners house at Groningen.

The house, which was prefabricated in the Netherlands in 1844 and erected at Groningen in 1845, is still for a large part original. A large balcony was added around 1970 together with extra bedrooms at the right side of the house. Doors and windows were modified. Interior walls and ceilings were covered with plywood sheeting.
Restoration started in 2023. The interior was stripped and largely restored back to its original appearance. The restored house will become a museum.
